If you have gone through a LEED O+M certification or recertification, you probably know that reducing lighting energy usage is a top goal. Proper daylighting during initial building design helps, as well as occupancy sensors for a building of any age.
New York State is not only reducing the state buildings' energy consumption, but the new policy is also having anyother positive impact: helping migrating birds stay oriented using nighttime stars. Bright outdoor building lights will be turn off from 11:30 pm to dawn each morning during Spring and Fall migration.
Across the United States, Ampajen consults with building owners and occupants to maximize efficiency and sustainability. What a pleasure it is to know that we may also be impacting "for good" what happens on the outside of our clients' buildings.
